I am a co-chair of the WPI relay for life and this is our second year doing this event. We had a slow start with the committee this year but through some contests and persuasion we filled the committee spots well. Well now its comming close to kickoff and the event, and the committee members seem to be getting less involved and are not responding to emails or attending meetings. Im getting very stressed about everything and I know getting angry with them is not the best way to go. I was looking at other forums and I know the best way is to inspire them. I was wondering if anyone could give me tips on inspiring my committee or things I can say to them to get them back to 100%.
Remember that YOU set the tone for your event and meetings. If you come across stressed out, tired, frustrated, etc....you can expect that in return. Before a meeting, find something good to share with your group and send them an e-mail/phone call/hand-written card invitation to the next meeting. Maybe even let them know there will be FOOD at the meeting...always helps increase the turnout! You can offer prizes or awards for the committee members who attend the most meetings, are first to arrive, bring in a new survivor/committee member, etc. Everyone loves to WIN things! If nothing else...pray. (Pray to what/who ever works for you!) Pray for a good turnout. Pray for the right words to say to get your message and passion across. Pray for a good vibe in the room during the meeting. Whatever...can't hurt, right?
Best of luck to you! Hang in there and don't stress out. You're doing a good thing and it will all turn out in the end.

Hi,
Are you working closely with your ACS Income Manager?
We have a wonderful one here and she gets people involved.
Maybe have a discussion with the Income Mgr about how you feel, and you could use some help in rallying the troups.
How was the event last year?
Are the same people back on the same committees?
We started this year off very slow ourselves, but of late we are having more people becoming involved.
The weather and time of year plays a big part on responses. December and January people are so busy and stressed.
When is your event?
When is your kick-off?
You may just be stressing because you sense a lack of effort on some of the team.
