My team is having a hard time pick our name.

The theme is "kicking cancer off the planet" and each team is supposed to pick a country. for example, goofy germans, chillin' chileans, etc.

All we have come up with is Gnarly Norweigans.

Help us out if you have any ideas please!

Countries

Yes!  You could think of words that mean "Stamina" or "fighting" or along those lines and then pair them up..."Tenacious Tunicians".

Or you could choose things from real life that work in the country and fighting, like "The Siamese Fighting Fish" or something to do with warriors.

Or you could make up a country.  You could call your country "Relayland" or "CancerFreedom" and everyone there wears their sunscreen everyday and eats 5 or more Fruits & Vegetables a day.

I do really like the Gnarly Norwegians.

ok, so it turns out that we

ok, so it turns out that we are sticking with our idea of "gnarly norwegians"

we plan on wear helmet horns, breastplates, and wearing swim suits over our warm clothes for the surfer/gnarly theme. we also plan on decorating our tent with a norway flag.

what do your teams do to display the theme/team name?

any other gnarly norwegian ideas?

Gnarly GNorwegians

I love it! The Vikings take on Cancer!

Our teams often make up their own theme-related shirts, hats, wear wigs, and decorate campsites.  And it's fun if they have a Mission related activity that incorporates their theme.  Last year we had one team called Sue's Soldiers, who had a whole display called "Arming Yourself Against the Sun" about which sunrays are the worst, what to look for in sunscreen, hats, etc.  And for our Road to Recovery Race their car was a mini tank.

Another team was called "Stomp" and their shirts said, "Stomp Out Cancer".  They had shoes hanging from their tent and their Road to Recovery car was a big high top tennis shoe.

You could decorate your campsite like a big ship, with the mast holding both a Norwegian flag and a Relay flag.  And for a Mission related activity/display, you could have information about fish/fish oil/Omega 3 and its impact on health/cancer or on sunscreen for the Gnarly side.  And of course, if you do a Road to Recovery Race, you could make a boat (or a surf board with the norwegian flag on it) for your car.    And if you do a Miss Relay contest, you could have your entry be "Erika the Red"!  and look like one of those operatic vikings.
