I work for an after-school program with kids from ages 5-12.  What do you think would be a good fundraiser for this age group?  We have 13 sites with over 500 kids in the program total.  We were thinking about a walkathon or penny wars.  Are there any other ideas that would be good?

TIA!

Kelly

Youth Involvement

Hey Kelly,

How about Quarters for a Cure?  The kids each get a film canister or pill bottle and ask for quarters.  If they get more than their canister will hold, use a ziploc baggie.  There is a letter you can send home with the kids to the parents.  The child raising the much gets a little prize or the class raising the most maybe a pizza party.  We do it here in our area and it is a great success and hit with the kids!  Kids are not bashful and love to be involved.  If you want more info or a copy of the letter, email me at bama911gal@aol.com I will be happy to pass along what we have.

Ideas for kids

I'm not sure if you could find a way to turn this into a fundraiser but a few years ago we had the 3rd graders in our town decorate luminarias for a competition.

Not only did they get involved with relay but then we also had that many more luminaria bags to go around the track! And a lot of the kids came to the relay with their parents to see their bags lit up so it brought more people to the relay!
