I have accepted the Luminary Chairperson position for my community's "Relay" and the bleacher idea has never been used in the past. For anyone that has done it, could you tell me how many luminaries it takes to complete the word "HOPE" in the bleachers.

Luminaria in the bleachers

Albert, click on the Committee Chair Toolkit image on the right nav. The very first link on that page is the "Celebrate. Remember. Fight Back Guidebook" where you'll find not only the layout of the bags, but how you can transform "HOPE" to "CURE" during your luminaria ceremony. It's on page 50, as I recall.

Heads up - The Guidebook is a very large PDF, so it'll take a while to open.

HOPE in the Bleachers

Another idea of trying to figure out your HOPE in the bleachers layout is to count the number of bleachers top to bottom and then use Excel to create a printout of it.  i.e. if there is 10 sets up, I select 10 squares in Excel and use the fill option on your Excel to spell out HOPE... That will guide you a little.  I did that a couple of years ago and another item that helped is looking up images on the internet and counting them out.  Personally I used two rows down for my letters like H and P and E and I have changed the O to a heart.
