  Hi all,

I am Djing our local relay for life , this will be my second  year doing so and this year  I actually know what to expect.  :)....Anyways I am  looking for songs I can play , for example,  songs that are  catered ESPECIALLY for  relay for life, could be songs people wrote for it, songs  people changed the words , etc.  Please  send me a link where I can either purchase or download these kind of songs.   Upon my  search I have found a truly  touching webpage I would like to share with everybody.  www.myspace.com/dawnsongs    ....  Also  any suggestions on  themes for laps that would keep it  exciting for  everybody would  be   a plus as well.  Thank you  for your time  and responses in advanced. God  bless and lets  beat this disease!!!!

Relay for Life Songs

I think I have some super Relay songs for you, but I'm probably a little prejudiced. Last November relayforlife.org held a song contest for the new website sharinghope.tv Lots of people voted and there were some really excellent songs submitted. Now, this is where the prejudiced part comes in, but the winning song was my husband's entitled, "Expect A Miracle". Different relays around the country have been using the song for the Survivors' lap. The song is very upbeat, but really builds on what is needed to beat cancer: hope, friends, family, love and strength. The last person who commented was correct about copyright laws, but Tom's song was written to be an uplifting song to give people courage in the battle against cancer. So anyone may use it as long as it's for Relay. We made a movie that is the same title as the song and if you go to our website and leave a message, he'll send you a CD. No charge! Go to: expectamiraclethemovie.com You can hear the song there.

And you can here it here, too, if you go to sharinghope.TV by clicking the button at the top of this page labeled "Society Links". When you get to the Sharing Hope page, click the number 2 button. That will take you to the song. His name is Tom Calanni. You'll hear the song when you click on his name. For some reason there are some voices in the background, but I just think that's because the're trying to update this site and that can get pretty complicated.

Also, he has a beautiful song written for the Luminary Ceremony called, " Be My Candle Through The Night". He will send you a CD of that one, or both, at no cost to you. To hear that one though, you'd have to go to our website that I mentioned above.

He's a Multiple Myeloma survivor so both of those songs have a special meaning for me. Whatever you do just keep up the good work! We're going to beat this miserable disease someday soon!!

Well, I can't say that I

Well, I can't say that I have many ideas, but I would most definitely suggest going to the link on the side. I had a bunch of songs all ready to suggest, and then I clicked on it, and it covers EVERY SINGLE ONE! Regarding songs that seem especially catered, "I Run For Life" by Melissa Etheridge (I'm sure that I got that entirely wrong, but it's the basic idea of the spelling!) seems perfect, IMO. It made me cry when I heard it, just because of how much I associate it with Relay. But as for songs that ARE actually written for Relay, I think that you'll have a good deal of difficulty with that, because there'll be copyright issues and money issues (because many people who HAVE written them won't have produced them) and talent-less issues with the people who have actually produced them. Because of the VERY small chance of getting one of these songs that actually fits all of your expectations, I would instead suggest doing a fundraiser to find one of them. Have people submit songs, and then take money as votes for each song (you like song one, you donate x money to the pool for song one, then if said song raises the most money, it wins) and then get it performed (recorded or live by either the writer or a local singer, depending on your wishes and the wishes of the writer. It could be a good quality song, a funny song, whatever-- that would be for the voters to decide.

Have you checked out the Link on the Right for Song Suggestions?  There are some good ones there.
