I'm extremely new to Relay, and before I create a team [involving many people from Newfane, NY] i had a question. It might end up having an obvious answer, however i was wondering, Do you just choose a sponsor when you create the team? [There is a list of choices, pretty much] or do i find one of the choices to sponser us? [P.S Is there a Cost?]

here in Illinos our teams also raise their own money and the events have sponsors. We charge $25 for new teams and $10 for returning teams (with it going towards your tem total). There are SO MANY ways to raise money it's unbelievable. When people know what you're raising money for very seldom do they not donate. Ashlee, having a sponsor for a team may be something that Newfane (or New York Region) Events do, but in Virginia, teams are "self-sponsored", that is, they're defined as Friends & Family teams, or Church teams, or Youth teams. Basically, folks who have a common community link. In some cases, the church, school or business provides logistics or fundraising support, but it's not required. Obviously, if you can find a sponsoring organization, so much the better in getting a start on fundraising.
The only "cost" to form a team is the individual commitment fee of $10. Your Event will likely also have Event sponsor opportunities that recognize the sponsors with, for example, their logo on the back of the Relay shirts. Speak to your Event Chair or Event Sponsorship Committee Chair for details.

The "choose a company" is an optional step. There are some 34 national companies who've made significant commitments to Relay, and if a local team happens to be formed by employees of that national firm, this allows them to be associated across the whole country.
In your situation, simply leave that field blank.
If you're a Team Captain, you'll be asked on the online Registration Form for some profile info on your team, such as whether you're mostly friends and family, youth, business, etc... Purely informational -- and optional.
