Hi my name is Jennifer. My Daughter is Brannon, She is only 5. One day Brannon asked me about my Father, she wanted to know why I didn't have one. I preceded to tell her that my father died when he was only 50 of colon cancer. She then asked me if this is why I was going to Relay. I told her yes and also because her Granny is a 18 year Breast cancer survivor. She asked me if she could relay too. I told her sure you can and took her to the next captains meeting. She was given a Piggy Bank which she quickly named Prince Charming. He suddenly became her best friend. She raised about $40.00 that first night. You could see the little light bulb turn on. She suddenly realized that she smiled, asked for money, and people gave it willingly. I was worried at the first bank night that she wouldn't give up the money. The only thing she was worried about, was if  they were going to take Prince Charming, once she was reassured that he would be given right back she was fine. She raised over $600.00 her first year, over $1200.00 the next, and over $2000.00 last year. She has set a goal of $3000.00 this year. I sure hope she can do it!! And just think, All of this started with one purple piggy bank, OH I Mean Prince Charming. She has since started having birthday parties with only money a gifts, so she can give it to Relay for life. She has become the biggest little relayer in Kilgore, or that is what everyone likes to call her. I hope this gives you a bit of hope to show that if a 3 year old can start out raising $600.00 her first year and only go up from there. As Brannon would say." If I can do it you can do it too."

Relay

That is so neat how your little girl is so involved with Relay!! I wasn't really involved until my mom was diagnosed with cancer. Since she died I have been spreading the word about Relay and convincing people to spend this one night out at our relay site instead of parties or movies. way to go!!
