Hi, my name is Stephanie Lewis and I am the Event Chair at UNC-Charlotte. This is my 3rd year as chair and although we have grown significantly as a Relay we still have a major problem with committed committee members. Are their any ideas to keep the committee excited and committed. As well as ideas for recruiting more committee members. In a college Relay I understand that the students are busy but they begin strong and I end up with very few by the time of Relay when we really need them.
My name is Tim and I am the Event Chair at Old Dominion University's Relay for life. Understand exactly where you are coming from in respects to recruiting a committee. I have a couple ideas about what we have done here that might work for you. Our CAC chapter is very involved with the Relay. Actually almost every member of CAC is on our committee. That was the easiest way I got my committee. Also, we have very strong support from our campus about our relay. The Greeks, Administration and Students are really behind our event. We have a community service center that forwards volunteers to us and we contact them and ask them to join our committee. I am not sure if you have a community service center on campus but that is how we some people. Also the Greek Population is very involved in relay and we grab the old Team Captains and put them on the committee.
Hope this helps
Tim
