I was just crowned Miss Leeds Area 2008, a preliminary pageant to the Miss Alabama Pageant in June. My platform is Fund, Fight, Find~Promoting Cancer Research. With this platform and new title, I will travel throughout the city of Leeds and the city of Hoover to promote cancer awareness and research.

I have been a part of Relay For Life with the American Cancer Society for about ten years now. My grandmother passed away from a cancerous brain tumor. Ever since, my family has been very involved.

Last year I got to participate in three Relay For Lifes throughout the state of Alabama. This year, I would like to take this involvement to the next level. I am working on a Senior Design Project for an Engineering class at my high school. I have decided to focus on Relay for Life and design a new Relay that will hopefully be implemented this Spring. This would be considered both civil and industrial engineering.

I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions of things that were successful with their relays in the past, but also mistakes that allowed preparation for the future. Anything from layout of the site, how to get the community involved, tips for raising money, will all be helpful!
