When relay is just around the corner, I'll post in the signature section on all the forums I belong to with a link to MY online page along with small banner I make every year.
With all the forums and the online friends one might make, but never really know the ppl, they do donate. And I'm one of those that hate to go ask ppl for donations.
Which reminds me... Relay is just around the corner, time to update my sigs. ![]()
Here are a few suggestions:
1. Go to
http://www.relayamerica.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=14&sid=7ea560d91da8937ff6a7a0e721e47d34
to see some posts about information for online fundraising and some ideas.
2. You can download some samples of on-line fundraising instructions for different types of tasks at:
http://www.acsrelay.org/manualandDGIs.php#Part_22
3. Ask your staff person if there are any resources or "workgroups" that can help with Relay Online. For example, if you are in the South Atlantic Division (Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, DC, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia) there is a On-line fundraising resource team that can provide ideas. And there is also a similar rsource in the High Plains Division. You can email me at rflvolunteer@gmail.com for more information.

Our teams really like the online fundraising. We encourage them to send out e-mails to all of their family and friends a few times throughout the year- especially around holiday time. It works great for those who have family and friends that live out of the area.
A big thing to push is that it lessens the amount of cash and checks they will be responsible for. Some people don't like having to keep track of all of the cash and checks until the next meeting or bank night. By using their credit cards donors have a receipt of their charitable giving (the credit card statement) if they want to claim it for their taxes.
We make sure that our teams put their online fundraising web address on any advertising they use for fundraising events. My ACS rep and I also try to keep the main Relay page updated frequently so donors can see what kind of progress we are making.
I think the best advice I can give is to make sure the web address is on any and every advertisement you do.
It is a tool that our division office rolled out to the Relays a few year's ago. I suggest talking to your ACS staff partner and asking if this is something that is available to you. Its a great communication and management tool for teams and the feature of fundraising online is very nice.!
