Relay For Life of Denham Springs, LA
Hello Everyone,
The Relay For Life of Denham Springs, LA struggled last year, but this year is going to be BIGGER and BETTER than ever. I am a 1 1/2 year Colon/Rectal Cancer Survivor, and I took over as the Event Chairman. Being a professional I know that advertising is everything, so I enlisted the help of quite a few public officials to be on the committee who just so happened they are cancer survivors also. Well I had my daughter, who is also on my committee, make me a myspace.com for the Relay. Please check out the page for updates on the event, and things that we are doing to raise awareness for the Relay For Life and the fight against cancer.

A New MYSPACE.COM Relay For Life Site
Here's a brand new site on MySpace. You have to read his "ABOUT ME" because I think you will find it very, very interesting...especially if you are looking for a novel fundraiser.
This guy at the site is the same person who just won the Relay For Life/American Cancer Society's 2007 Song Contest that was held last month right here at relayforlife.org!

I have one set up for our team.
I don't think we have one for our entire event, but I find its a great way to communicate with my team members, since most of them are on myspace already.
I also added a link to my online fundraising site to both my team & personal myspace page. I've actually gotten a lot of responses to that. I love when those who read my blog on Relay are inspired to check out Relay in their town.

New MySpace for Relay For Life of Dearborn
Our Relay For Life of Dearborn (Michigan) just started a MySpace page, www.myspace.com/rfldearborn to help reach a little different audience and to direct people to our official site http://events.cancer.org/rfldearbornmi . It's also nice to be able to share info a little differently than the official site allows. We're still working on ideas to make both sites better.
I'll be sending friend requests to those sites listed here soon and hope you'll all add Dearborn as a friend!

I think using myspace as a tool is a great idea! I'm also from Michigan and like using creative ways to capture people's attention. Be sure to check out what we do... flickr account for photos, videos for fun, and website / blog for keeping the community and team members up to date.
The team i'm on, Karen's Kids (www.karenskidsrelayforlife.org) uses Facebook instead of myspce as a tool for outreach. We then direct any people to our team website and encourage them to either join our team or another team, donate to Relay, or volunteer some other way.
I've very happy to see Michigan is doing some "out of the box" ways for Relay, it makes me happy!

I do not believe my Relay has a MySpace page, but it's a great idea. I have a MySpace account I check often, but never thought of creating one for an event. I think it could be a great opportunity to reach people, especially the younger generation. Thanks for the idea.

But I have some questions. How do you all get people in your area to add you on MySpace??? I'm not a big fan of MySpace, but I know it's a huge thing for many people. I just can't figure out how to get people to add it.

You can do the old fashion advertising of making a Pull off Flyer with your Site on them more people will look from your neighborhood! Or local Radio! Or Local Paper!!! Hope I have Helped
