Have you taken the pledge to Fight Back? If so, what have you pledged to do? What have you done? What would you like to do? Have you checked out the Fight Back pages on RelayForLife.org? Have you found any links that you want to share? Is there anything that you found that you'd like others to check out?

I choose to advocate to FIGHT BACK! I have no insurance, I make too much money because I am a widow with children and I get my spousal benefits, I am unemployed because I have cancer (I was placed on disability).
All of this said, I can't get medical card without having a monthly spend down to meet first. I can't get a medical card for only my daughter without dropping the money my husband worked hard to make sure we had... so I am advocating to write letters upon letters!
It's not right that one day we can have insurance but because the insurance companies have stipulations on "pre-existing conditions" they drop you the next, which happened to me! I had no idea when I went in for my exam 11 months after my surgery to remove my cancer that they wee going to find a new mass... so with no regards to how I was to pay for anything my insurance left me high and dry... this does happen and I am FIGHTING mad!
I am Event Chair of the Inland Mendocino County (CA) Relay For Life. I am pesonally pledging to FIGHT BACK! in a couple of ways:
* I am enrolling as a volunteer in the CPS-3 study
* I am signing up CPS-3 study volunteers at the Inland Mendocino County Relay (we are not an enrollment site, event date June 21-22) and have coordinated with the local Transit Authority who are donating a bus and driver to transport our volunteers to the Relay For Life event in Vallejo, who is an enrollment site (approximately a 2-hour drive one-way, event date August 2-3)
So, I'm not only FIGHTING BACK! myself, I hoping to help many others to do so as well.
I Pledge to ask everyone I talk to to enter the ACS # in to their cell phones but I guess I need to put it in mine first!
Iwill add the ACS web addy to all my sig lines in outgoing emails. I am also a licensed beautician and I am taking the LGFB trainning and joining that as well.
I was at the November Summit in Springfield MA as a representative of the Kearsarge/Lake Sunapee Relay For Life of New Hampshire. I was supposed to go and bring back al of the good information to share with the committee. Well little did I know that I would be SO INSPIRED that I signed on to Chair our Relay for the next two years. I am currently one of our states 16 Advocates and went to Celebration on the HIll 2006! What a wonderful experience. I renewed my ASCAN membership and will continue my Fight Back through Eat Right and helping my husband and I to lose weight and keep it off by Eating Right and Fighting back. I lost my Mom to Lung Cancer, Dad in Law to Leukemia, countless female friends to Breast and Brain Cancer. I'm done with that. I'm FIGHTING BACK! Thank you all for your inspiration!

I've made 2 Fight Back pledges: I pledge to take the Great American Eat Right Challenge. My first step is to include five servings of fruits and vegetables each day. Second, I pledge to get my 54-year old husband in for his first colonoscopy.
For those of you on my buddy list, don't hesitate to check in with me to see how I'm doing. (As far as that goes, anyone on RelayForLife.org is welcome to check in with me.)
It's great that Fight Back pledges are something we can easily commit to every day. I'd recommend checking out the Great Americans website at cancer.org for some simple things each of us can do for ourselves and our families.
The ACSCAN site also has some good Fight Back ideas.
Check them out!
I pledge to Fight Back by participating in the CPS-3 Study (Cancer Prevention Study-3)! Although there will not be enrollment at our Fulton County Relay, McClean County will have enrollment for this study at their Relay on June 27, 2008. And I will be there!

Jeff -
I pledged at the leadership summit in Dallas to get my mammogram - done. I decided to FIGHT BACK in getting more active - walking 10-15 miles per week now, before 0! I have also decided to FIGHT BACK by encouraging my brother to become SMOKEFREE - well, he is trying .... but not there yet. I love the whole FIGHT BACK idea .... it really has motivated me to make better choices and to get more involved.

I have had to opprotunity to pledge three times over the last three weekends beginning with National Conference in Phoenix, then Great Lakes Leadership Summit, and then this past weekend at my divisional 5D's. I have pledge twice to learn all I can about the wonderful prgrams that American Cancer Society has to offer so when asked where does the money go I can give a strong detailed answer. And, I have pledge to eat healthier.
