I wasn't sure where to post this, I figured the YOUTH section was the best. We have a NEW Wal-Mart in town and their team has asked my son Devon to help out. See Devon is a Magician and he's 11. He won a magic competion in Pigeon Forge TN in March and Wal-Mart thought it would be cool to have him do shows during the relay. I'll try to post a video of his magic at the bottom of this..but here's the press release that we've sent all over town and posted on every website that we can find.

Local Illusionists Performs for Relay for Life in Smithville TN.

One day. One night. One community:  By participating in an American Cancer Society Relay For Life® event near you, you honor cancer survivors, pay tribute to the lives lost to the disease, and raise money to help fight it – all right in your community.

Much more than a walk around a track, Relay is a time to celebrate those who have battled cancer, remember those lost and get inspired to fight back. Those who have shared the same experience find common ground, hope and healing at Relay. By participating, you have the power to continue the American Cancer Society's progress toward a future where cancer doesn't take the lives of our friends and family.

The above 2 paragraphs are from the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life web site. 11 year olds, Devon Owens and Glenna Beaty will be participating in a big way. The Relay for Life in Smithville, TN is scheduled for May 11th at Greenbrook Park. The local Wal-Mart's relay team will have a camp with the theme "The Magic Cure" where Devon and Glenna will be performing Mini Magic Shows all through out the evening. The Shows are scheduled to begin at 7pm and happen hourly until at least 10. If the interest is there one more show at 11pm may be added.

Devon's Dad and producer said, "He's has been working very hard to make this event as big as possible. I think you'll be surprised at some of the big stage illusions that he's bringing" The show will include some new magic and Devon's twist on a classic or two. Devon and Glenna will also perform their award winning tribute to "The worlds most famous magician ever…Harry Houdini".

"I'd like to thank Wal-Mart for asking me to be a part of their camp" Devon said. "My Granny B works there and I'm glad to get to help her help others with cancer"

Wal-Mart Relay team member Vonda Brown says "Even though there is no "Magic Cure" for cancer, Devon and Glenna will be doing their part to create one". The public is invited to come to the relay and see this show. Admission to the show is just $2 and will go directly to the American Cancer Society.

Here's the Video

This is the "Highlight Reel" from the Smithville Relay show. We had a great albeit rainy night. Still, several hundred people turned out for the relay and Devon got an oppritunity to perform for several of them with a total of 5 shows.

And this is 10minutes of the just one of the 17 minute shows that he performed that night. (warning the begining is the same as the above video.
