Hi!

Does anyone have the instructions for changing the "HOPE" in the bleachers to "CURE"?  Our Luminaria Chair would love to try this at our Relay this year, but we have not been able to find the instructions.  Any assistance you can give will be much appreciated!

Thanks!

"HOPE" to "CURE"

Thank you!  Our Relay is coming up next weekend, June 1 - 2, so our luminaria chair is already working on her own instructions.  I'll ask her to post whatever she comes up with.  I think she plans to place the extra bags for "CURE" under the bleacher seats so that they can easily be set out when she's ready for the change.

Luminaria Book

Davianne,

I believe this information is located in the Luminaria Chair handbook provided by ACS. I do not have the book, but I do remember seeing it and I think that is where... And yes, it is easy to change with two people. You can use painter's tape on the bleachers to mark the ones that stay...

Hope this helps,

Changing Hope To Cure

Hey there - what do you mean? Do you mean a way to gradually change it all night by moving the letters around or have you seen a more elaborate "script" for it or something? If you can share more details, we might be able to help more easily. Thanks!

"HOPE" to "CURE"

I understand that there is a set of instructions that allow you to quickly change the word HOPE (spelled in luminaria bags in the bleachers) to the word CURE.  These instructions show you how to mark the bags that stay put, as well as placement of the bags to be added.  For example, the top of the O in HOPE would need to be removed to form a U for CURE, etc.  I'm told that if two people are assigned to each letter and this diagram is used, the word can be changed in a matter of a few minutes.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

There is an awesome layout

There is an awesome layout in the Celebrate Remember Fight back guide book. With just 3 people you can change it in about 30 seconds.. very simple. If someone needs this info and does not have the book, email me at mlbrowne@charter.net and I would be happy to send you the file.

Change Hope TO Cure!

GOT IT! THIS IS WHAT I HAVE:

This is a great activity that events use to reinforce what Relay is about – One day, the Hope that we have that we put into Relay will lead to a Cure! – To this end, what you do is use masking tape to tape the letters “C U R E” down directly below where you will put out the luminaria that spell HOPE… Then at a specified time in the night, have 3 volunteers go and move the luminaria around (one for each of the first three letters, the E does not change)… You’ll take one part of the R off, and move it to the other letters. Bring extra luminaria as H and O take more luminaria than C and U do. When it is complete, have a special song that plays (not too loud, as it might be 3 or 4 in the morning) to celebrate the change… Then have those who are up take a ceremonial lap to celebrate at that time, and you make sure you get photos!”
