The Gray Ribbon Chronicles

Well, it's been a couple of weeks since Mom's journey with cancer came to an end. Usually I'm pretty good about chronicling these events, but this one has been more difficult than anything else. I'm thankful however, for a wonderfully supportive community of friends who do not let me remain closed away in my grief, but remind me that until there's a cure, until there's earlier and better detection, then the journey isn't really over at all. The torch has simply been passed.

Fundraising Idea

In these tough economic times, schools and non-profit organizations are struggling with budget cuts and reduced donations. An Arbonne Fundraiser is a unique way to raise much needed funding for your organization anytime of the year.

Dad's Cancer

My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer this week.  My mom and dad met with the oncologist today...and were told that chemo and surgery are not an option because his cancer is too far advanced.  They are wanting him to try a new drug that is suppose to slow down the development of his cancer.  Turns out this medicine is very expensive....$3000 a month. UGH!!

Having Relay on a Holiday Weekend

I was just wondering if any of you have ever held your Relay on a holiday weekend. We have always tried to avoid Memorial Day and Mother's Day weekend in the past. I was just curious to know if anyone as ever had their Relay on one of these weekends and if so, how was the turn out?

Miricale song for Emily

I attened Summit in Dallas this past weekend and was wondering if anyone could get me some information on the girl that sang the song about a Miricale for Emily. I loved it and would love to have a copy. Thanks!

Week One

Well I got home from Summit last night with great hopes, dreams, and ideas.  I am also a little, no make that a LOT scared of what is before me in the next 9 months.  I want so badly to get this turned around, but I also know that i have a huge task and a lot of work  ahead of me.  I have started to talk to a GREAT group of friends to help on the committee this year and i can only hope and pray that our passion and hope will spread through out this community and bring Relay For Life back to what it was and more.  We will have to see how this works out.......tomorrow the calls begin.....
