My husbands grandmother recently died of cancer, while it was not breast cancer it was still cancer.  She was diagnosed with small cell carcinoma and lived for 3 years after her diagnosis.  During that time she endured many rounds of chemo and radiation therapy.  In her 2nd year she was diagnosed with brain mets, she woke up one day and was completely confused, we brought her to the ER and they immediately consulted her oncologist, we were told the devastating news.  They warned us it would not be long now and yet it was longer than was expected.  For this we were grateful and we were able to enjoy her presence for yet another year.  We were able to have a full 3 years with her after her initial diagnosis, cancer treatment has come a long way over the past decade and with my help and your help it will continue to submit to technology and medicine.

Over the summer, we have added lots of great material to RelayForLife.org, and plan to offer lots more by the time you start getting in the thick-of-things with your 2010 events.  Our latest additions to the site include the Summit materials, the official implementation of Relay TV (where you can watch Relay videos as they run, or you can watch most of them "on-demand."

We have also updated the Team Captain Toolkit and added a new resource page for Bark For Life.  We've updated the navigation at the top of the page by adding an "outside the track" section, where you can access pages related to Relay, indirectly. 

Over the holiday season, we'll be working on an upgrade to RelayForLife.org to the most stable version of our platform, which should add some new functionality and usability to the site.  Stay tuned!

I've never done thid before where do I begin?

i was reading somewhere on here of a group that gave each survivor a seedling and a poem attached. i can not remember what type of seedling it was. what would be a good seedling tree to present to our survivors?

Today I was informed that my nephew, Jonathan, better known as Jonavark, had passed away last night at 11:36pm of liver cancer. It is a sad day but my heart is blessed knowing that he is now with our Heavenly Father and that we will, one day, be able to laugh again TOGETHER in Heavenly Father's presence!

I guess the best way to start is….Why do I Relay? What is my story?

I find cancer to be one of the scariest words in the English language.  If you have not had cancer personally, then you’ve probably had a family member who has, or know someone that has been affected by it.  Cancer seems to be everywhere I go.  I’ve gotten to the point where everyday someone new that I’ve personally known is either diagnosed or has passed on.   

It's afternoon here in Scotland and the weather is, well, normal for this time of year (rain, cold etc...)

We've just been in touch with a national superstore who we hope is interested in sponsoring our event, also, we've downloaded loads of publicity information from this web site, on first glance it looks really good and should help us out getting the event noticed as advertising was and no doubt will still be our problem over here because unlike the US very few people have heard of the Relay for Life due to the fact we have a Race for Life which is nationally sponsored by a huge multi national chain of surpestores and it's advertised all over the country and in each and every store this company has across the UK.

That said it's not going to stop us, just make us more determined to get the Relay's up to that level.

captain this year. Walmart of Chipley Florida asked

me to be team captain for 2010. I am plaining to

fight back cancer for years to come. So! Please help
