Brandon And His Fight Against Childhood Cancer

AS many know, my son Brandon was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma in March of 2007 at the age of 13.

Brandon went to bed one Friday night in January of '07 and woke the next morning with his eye swollen shut. After two months of trying to find out what was going on Dr. Eric Baylin did surgery to try and remove the tumor but was unable. Brandon then started chemo treat ment a week later at the Aflac Cancer Center in Children's Healtcare of Atlanta.

After 26 weeks of Chemo and 25 treatments of radiation to the left eye, Brandon has been cancer free since November 6th. I can't describe what Brandon and our family went through for the last year. As a parent you are helpless to such a terrible disease and to have to watch your child go through such pain.

Brandon was able to maintain straight A's in all his gifted classes at M.D. Roberts Middle School in Jonesboro, GA through all his treatment. Brandon is now able to play baseball even though his sight in the left eye is blurry.
