Relayers in Your Peripheral VisionI was talking to a friend the other day that is always in my peripheral vision but never in the direct line of sight. Wonderful person; friendly, compassionate, always has time to listen but a non-Relayer who at the start of relay had stepped in, without a word, and shouldered my responsibilities in a project. Great person! We had reached a point in the conversation where I was thanking them for taking on my responsibilities and expressing my Relay created reasons for not doing them myself, when I said "I am so sorry you don't Relay ... Reaching Astonomical NumbersCorporate Sponsorship money. WOW! Gotta have it! It makes the totals of your Relay reach those astronomical numbers that many of us only dream of reaching. And those numbers make your Relay standout and gain recognition, recognition that one wants their Relay volunteers, their teams, their committee members to receive because they deserve it! Boy, they deserve it and so much more.
But how does one get that corporate sponsorship money? Send a form letter requesting placement on a budget at the beginning of the year? Walk into the

Through Another's EyesI so enjoy reading the blogs, thank you for taking the time to put them up. They help me look at things through another’s eyes and that is a good thing. Several of the people I volunteer with for my local Relay have joined this site with me so we can stay in touch and sharpen our "relaying" skills. I hope they will each click the BLOG button and share with you about their experiences during Relay. But here is one note from a friend and I kinda bet she is too shy to post it so I am jumping out there for her - it gave me that opportunity for looking through another's eyes and I hope it will do the same for you. Fay Why I Relay, I relay to help bring awareness! If, for only one person that needs encrouragement. that needs to be brave enough to take immediate action against this insidious disease called "cancer". Fayandria – July 25, 2008 – 1:22pm

What is Relaying? We plan and experience an activity called Relay but in my mind getting to the event, raising monies, planning activities, reaching out to others in our communities is called Relaying. And Relaying is made up of so many different facets, one is awareness. A woman came to my office and found me at my desk. She was looking for information. She told me about a lump she had found, she said she was nervous, and also embarrassed and just wanted some information. I said “go to the doctor”. Seemed simple enough to me but she stalled and stalled around. No work was getting done so I asked “want to talk ... maybe to a doctor or nurse?” She instantly said “OH! YES! PLEASE!” Now I know that a doctor or nurse walks a thin line with giving advice but I also know they know, better than I, what that line is and this visitor needed more, was looking for more than my answer. I suggested the 1-800 number but she wanted to talk now while she had privacy. So, I asked on our Volunteers’ chat group if a nurse was available. And like an answer to the visitor’s prayer and mine, Mercedes Lassard answered the call. Fayandria – June 26, 2008 – 12:57pm

What is Relaying? What is Relaying? Well we all know Relay is made up of so many different facets so I guess when you are acting out on one of those facets it's Relaying. Awareness is one.. My Relay is the Relay For Life of Second Life but this can happen anywhere or time. A woman came to American Cancer Society Island in Second Life and found me at my desk. Her profile stated she was a college student and she stated she was looking for information. She told me about a lump she had found, she said she was nervous, and also embarrassed and just wanted some information. I said “go to the doctor”. Seemed simple enough to me but she stalled around so I asked “want to talk to doctor or nurse?” She instantly said “OH! YES! PLEASE!” Fayandria – June 21, 2008 – 11:10am
