There's only 8 days until Relay.  We're all very excited for the event! We have a lot of great things planned!

We recently found out that the ACS CAN Fight Back Express is coming to our Relay on Saturday May 17!!!  You should come check it out!

Striking Out Cancer is hosting our 2nd wine tasting. It's this Thursday, March 13!  This is a fun event and raises a good amount of money.  We're limited to 20 people but maybe next year we'll shoot for a Wine Tasting Gala and host it a location where we can hold more people.

We're also considering selling spring bulbs through a fundraising company.  We may try to team up with 1 or 2 other Relay teams if we can.

Our other fundraiser is a Full Moon Luna Loca Fiesta at Margaritas, Route 44, Canton, CT on Thursday April 17 starting at 6pm.  Proceeds from raffle ticket sales are donated to Relay as well as a portion of sales!  The event is a blast!  Everyone is welcome!!! Thank you Dan Garza!!! 

I think our Kick-Off event was quite successful last Friday night.  We set up different stations...welcome table, teams, luminaria, survivorship, cancer control, registration (w/ laptops) and of course a food table with LOTS of food.  We registered quite a few teams online that night. We also met a few people brand new to Relay who now want to have a team!  It's very exciting and I feel like our Relay and our Committee has such a great momentum right now.

Our Relay team started when our friend Jackie was diagnosed with cancer.  We played on a co-ed softball team together in Simsbury.  Our team rallied together, named our team Striking Out Cancer and we started raising money.  Unfortunately, Jackie passed away a little over a year after she was diagnosed.  She left a loving family and a host of friends who miss her very very much!  Jackie was such a beautiful, thoughtful, energetic young woman. 

Team Striking Out Cancer continues to Relay in Jackie's memory.  This will be our 4th year.  Jackie would not want others to go through the pain she went through and that her family and friends are still going through.  So we Relay with the hope that a cure will be found for cancer.
