Whoa! Can you believe it?

Whenever I log on to this site, one of the first things I do is check to see how many users are online. I like the see how high the number can get.

Well today it's certainly a record, as far as I've seen. There are now 840 guests online! that is fabulous! Now, imagine if all those people were to register! There are only 11 registered users online at this very moment. But how awesome would it be if all 840 registered. There would be almost 1000 registered user online right now! That's 1000 more brilliant minds who can share information.

Anyway, this is just a testament to what a great resource this site is! And what a great community this is, as well! Thank you to Jeff and to all of you!

Relay University - a wonderful day

Wow! Our Relay University was held yesterday and was a wonderful day with wonderful people. Spending time with so many people dedicated to Relay and curing cancer - it was just a joyous day.

Thank you to all the hard-working committee members who planned and executed a flawless day full of meaning and emotion and valuable information. Thank you!

An Outlook as bright as a Penny

A few months ago, my husband had something of a health scare. He was having difficulty breathing and the results of one of his x-rays had his Dr concerned that it might be cancer.

Well, since then, there have been many tests and a variety of possibilities tossed about. And while we don't yet have a solution, he is feeling better and finding that the symptom that sent him to the doctor in the first place has really not been the issue that it was.

What good has come from all this? Jeff is still in the process of working through the tests and all with his doctor, but in the meantime, he and I have begun walking with a group one evening a week and once we are through the holidays, we hope to increase that. And he has found that walking during his lunch hour is a good way to walk away both stress and boredom.

So, with the beginning of a new year comes a bright outlook. And with 365 days of 2008 waiting to be filled, we toast to a healthy year, full of love and optimism.

Prayers for Bob

After years of being cancer free, a family friend has learned that he is no longer so. And now the sparkle has gone from his step. He feels betrayed. And though being cancer-free is clearly never a guarantee...and he has never believed that it was...He has lived his life as a Survivor and now seems to feel like a fraud. And the statehood of his Survivorship is now in question. Of course, it's true that as soon as you're diagnosed you are a Survivor. So I guess that makes him a survivor twice over. But the fact remains...He is devistated.

So, we are praying for Bob. For peace, health, strength and for guidance for his doctors.

I am Thankful this Thanksgiving and every day for my health, for my husband, our pets, our families, for friends, for a roof over my head and a job. I am thankful to have a voice and a purpose and the freedom to fight for what I believe in.

Well, I've never been much for putting worries into print, because it seems to make the fear more alive and real...but a few weeks ago my husband was feeling kind of oogy and had been having trouble breathing. He had apparently been feeling this way for a while and decided it was time to see the doctor about it. Whuh? Feeling this way for a while? I didn't have a clue. Not until I got a call from him at the doctor's office while he was awaiting a treadmill test. But as he got me on the phone at my office, the doctor came in and he had to hang up. So all I got was the first part of a conversation that I could clearly tell was serious, but then he had to go. So now I was panicky. He finally called me back later and explained...
