Our favorite game at Relay has always been Musical Chairs Scavenger Hunt. The DJ calls out something to be found and players must get that item from anyone-except their team-and get back to the chairs before they are full. One chair is taken away in each round. It's a lot of fun and our DJ always comes upi with some crazy things to find.
at 1:30 am we brought out 4 inflatible whales. each team had four members stagered around the track. the participants had to "ride" the whale around the track like a hobbie horse!! because they were so big it was hard for them to balance and ride correctly. it was a riot, everyone loved it and wants to make sure we can do it again this year!! BONUS The whales were PURPLE!!
Our relay enjoys the dude and hunk contest. A girl from each team would dress as a guy, and a guy from each team would dress as a girl. Each contestant would fill out a Bio about themselves. Name, age, occupation, etc, Make up the craziest things u can think of. We would introduce them to the crowd. And then go into the crowd as a couple and get donations. The couple with the most wins. Alot of the outfits are pretty funny.
I was the Entertainment Chair for my relay this year - I was new and had a very small committee so I didn't have time to watch many of the events but I think the best activity we planned was Relay Scrabble. Before Relay I looked up the rules and point vaules for Scrabble and made my one 1.5x1.5" Scrabble Blocks. At 2am we lined up anyone that wanted to play on the starting line and as they came around for their 1st lap they got to draw a scrabble block out of the bucket, then walk another lap and do it again as they came around for lap 2, ect... Participants had the option of getting 7 letters to create their best word (and most did!). We had more people walking the track at 2AM than we did at 11PM!! Hope this helps! Good luck!!

For our Relay we have hourly theme laps (for example: 50s Lap would be all 50s music and the team walkers at that time are encouraged to dress to the theme - poodle skirts, etc - then we give spirit points for each team member that dresses for their laps).
Then on the half-hour we have an activity/game that is planned and hosted by one of the teams. They bring all of the supplies and sometimes the prizes. Teams also receive spirit points for participation.
Here is our list of themes and activities/games for this year... Each year is different themes and different music to keep it fresh!!

We did a Wet T-Shirt Contest. We used t-shirts from previous years and put them in a kiddie pool full of water. I had sewed some shut at the neck, arm and waist. The players raced to put on the most t-shirts in two minutes. Oh my gosh it was a riot!
One of my favorite events to watch and seems pretty popular to participate in is to not just use wet t-shirts but freeze them. Tie a few knots, not too tight, bind them up with rubber bands, soak them and put them in a freezer for a week. Then have them race around the track while trying to get them in a state to put on. The winner is the first to cross the finish line with their shirt on.
Good luck
Jon
This year a team came up with a new game they called Dress Up Hot Potato Game. They had several articles of rather embarrassing clothing, each one in a plastic bag. The bag was then thrown around the circle of people playing. Who ever had the bag when the music stopped had to put on the piece of clothing.
At the end, all the participants did a lap of the track to show off their new outfits. It was hilarious!!!

This year our Relay in Lorain, Oh held a horse race among our teams. We each purchased a horse (like the old stick horse, except when you press the ear they made horse "noises") and then we decorated it according to what our team's booth theme was. We had a big fuzzy die to roll and places marked on the ground so count our steps. We had to pay to register. We had 4 heats with the winner of each heat competing against each other. The winner won the money we registered with. We also displayed our horses at our booth with a bucket to collect donations. Lots of fun!!

a BIG favorite among my team members has to be the different dress up laps, or laps when you don't just walk, but you get to do something fun, like dance. we have all participated 9and some of us have won) the crazy sock lap, flip flop lap, crazy hat lap, crazy birthday hat lap (at this previous year's happy birthday relay) and crazy dance lap. (are you all seeing the "crazy" pattern here? haha). we love getting out on the track and acting silly and having a good time. probably the biggest supporter of these laps on our team is our self-appointed team mascot, Julian. those of you who are Western Berks relayers, you have undoubtedly seen him on the track almost the entire 24 hours, dancing turning cartwheels and running around like a nut. he is a proud supporter of socks, flip flop, hat and dance laps at every relay event.
Turkey Bowling is one of our hit activities. We have 2 sets of bowling pins set up, 2 particpiants from each team then take hold of a frozen turkey and give it a good heave ho. They get two throws and tally up the total number of pins knocked down. We do 2 rounds, 3 if there's a tie-breaker, and the team with the most points wins :D
At our Relay event, one of the teams had a "Jail & Bail" fundraiser. They decorated their entire booth to resemble an old fashion Western jail cell. They had a "sheriff" who went to arrest the people that warrants were issued for. You could have someone arrested by issuing a warrant via donation. You list the person's name, campsite & brief description on the form and you set the bail amount and amount of time they had to spend in jail.
Once that person was arrested, they were sent to jail. They had their picture taken for the record. That person had to either wait a certain amount of time listed on the warrant before posting bail themselves or if they could find someone to post bail for them at any time. It was fun and that team collected a lot of donations. No one was spared, including me, the Co-Chair for the event.
I know it will sound silly but my favorite game at our recent RFL was Musical Chairs. Participating teams each selected 4 team members to represent their team. Approximately 28 - 32 people of all ages played and it wasa blast! I think everyone watching had a great time too!
