Team of survivors

To get survivors who do not have team affiliation more connected at the Relay, I'm looking for input on forming a team made up solely with survivors.  It's likely that none of the team members have met each other prior to joining the team.

Any words of wisdom from events that have done this?

"Put it in Perspective"

Hello,

As we walk this weekend, we just want to remind people to "Put it in Perspective" and don't ever think that anything is too little!

www.flipitforlife.com continues to donate all of its net proceeds to the American Cancer Society.  Inspired by my sister, who was diagnosed with Leukemia when she was only 29 years old, Flip It For Life is raising money everday thanks to all of you!!!

We are also looking for volunteers to help the cause.  Please email me at mark@flipitforlife.com for more information.

April 27th, 2008

I wonder if I am doing anything useful with my life. So, I decided to join Relay For Life and see if I could do something to make a difference. I sent an email to my Relay For Life contact person:

I am a breast cancer survivor. My cancer was an infiltrating ductal carcinoma. I have been cancer free for eight years and am in very good health. On September 19th, 2006 I lost my significant other to Hepatocellular carcinoma.

I would like to be doing something. I don't know how Relay For Life works or if it would be a good place to start. I am physically able to do almost anything. I do get emotional and I have some problems with my memory and controlling my weight. I do work full time. I am very good with computers.

Please let me know where I can start and what I could do.

---

That didn't seem good enough and so I created this web page:

http://serenitysite.net/

That feels better.

Now I am going to go have an early dinner with my family and wait to see what I hear back.

Letter to the Editor

Only days before the 10th Annual Relay For Life of Merced a letter was written to the editor of the Merced Sun-Star, our local newspaper.  In it the author blasts Cynthia Nixon, the Susan G. Komen Foundation, and the American Cancer Society Relay For Life®.  Go to http://www.mercedsunstar.com/180/story/235525.html to read this letter online.

The American Cancer Society Lead Volunteer for the Great Valley South Region, Kathy Flaherty, was quick to get a response to the editor.  In it she defends the reseach supported by ACS.  Go to http://www.mercedsunstar.com/177/story/240007.html to read Flaherty's letter.
