The Merced Relay For Life® is this Saturday!  Although I know it not to be true, I feel completely unprepared.  I have teams signed up to facilitate various activites throughout the day.  I am getting help with the Fight Back & Mission Delivery campsites.  I pretty much have the Closing & Fight Back ceremonies ready to go.  I still feel unorganized.  I feel like I am missing something.  I know it will all come together.  It always does.

I'm trying to understand the Relay expense ratio. Am I correct with the understanding that the average Relay expense ratio is 6.2%? If so, is it 6.2% of the Relay Goal Gross, Net, or is it 6.2% of what was raised last year, gross or net?

Thanks to anyone who can help clarify this for me!!

 I will be a participant in the Riverside/WPAFB relay for life on May 9&10 at Stebbins H.S.  If would like to help me support the American Cancer Society through the Relay for Life, you can donate online or print a form to mail at the http:// link below.  Once you are connected to the local relay website, just take the following steps:

     1)  Under the Donate Star, click the "Donate to Participant"        

    2)  This will take you to make a contribution to participant, type in my first and last name: theresa  powell  and click on the "Search" button   

     3)  My name will appear in the box, just click on my name and then click on the "Donate" star.  You will need to complete the short contribution form online or print it to make a contribution by mail.

On April 22nd, the San Ramon City Council proclaimed May 1st 'May Day For Relay' and encouraged everyone to Paint Our Town Purple and to Relay with us on June 28th-29th.

I have found out as being team captain that you have to be very creative.  When it comes to fundraising and decorating the tent.  I hope that our team will do the best it ever has this year.  I want to wish the other teams good luck in fundraising. 

April 18, 2008 Covington County, Mississippi

Relay For Life in Covington County, Mississippi was a great success -despite the thunderstorms. The event was forced to move inside due to weather. The event was a huge success with hundreds coming out in support of the efforts of all of the teams who worked so hard in the fight against cancer.  The teams played up the Super Hero Theme for this years event - I saw superman, wonder woman, spiderman, the incredible hulk, the incredibles, the nija turtles and many more.

As I travel around the state to varous Relay For Life events, I am always impressed with the committment of those who are working towards a common goal. We all Relay for different reasons and we all have a story to share. I heard many of those stories this past weekend. Each time I visit a Relay For Life event I am more convinced that we are winning the battles each day and that we all Relay so that those facing cancer rest easy. Thanks to Convington County for what you do each day to make a difference.
