How do private messages happen?

I have been getting private messages and wished that the content of them and the replies were on forums.

So do I get private messages when someone responds to a forum post? Is there something the sender has to do to make it private? Once its private, I am guessing you cant post it to a forum for all to see, unless you copy and paste the content?

 thanks

Possible "Quilt for a Cure" Raffle Idea

I am tossing around in my mind the idea of making a lap quilt that would be raffled off during our local Relay for Life.  I've not participated in fundraising for Relay for Life before so I'm not sure how to do this to get the best result.

I'm thinking of posting a sign at a local quilt/sewing shop asking for people to volunteer to make a block of their choice (to match a certain color scheme) and then collect the blocks to be sewn together to make the quilt.

I've thought about doing just one to see how it goes over, doing three or four depending on the response of blocks received, etc.  Choosing a different color scheme to coordinate with different cancer awareness colors, etc.

Has anyone done something similar to this?  Is it a good idea?  Should tickets be sold while the quilting is going on or wait until a quilt is finished?  Should the finished quilt be on display during the Relay and still take ticket sales and have the drawing at the finish of the walk?  I'm just not sure?  I just have the thought, not clear on how to get it going.

Survivor Recruitment

Hi everyone,

I'm a student at Bridgewater State College in Massachusetts and we held our first Relay last weekend on campus for students, faculty and staff. I'm an 18 year leukemia survivor and we had 22 survivors sign up and I thought "oh awesome, I'm going to be able meet other students who had cancer too". Well only 8 survivors showed up and I was the only student at the Survivor Dinner. I am going to be on the committee next year and I'm the Survivor Chair and my question to all of you is does anyone have any ideas on how to recruit survivors, especially student-survivors for our Relay so we more than 8 show up next year? I would really appreciate your imput,

Sarah

Bunko for Fundraising or Fun

We have been considering holding a Bunko game as a fundraiser either at or before the Relay event.  I have read the rules and seen supplies on the internet, but someone told me you can actually "hire" someone to run the games for your group.  A friend in Texas did it to raise money for her local parochial school.  Here, in New Jersey, not many people have even heard of the game yet.  Has anyone else ever heard of this?  Or, has anyone done somthing like this before.  I would love to hear from you...email me at pittsgrove.relay@comcast.net.

New Team

I am the team captain for the high school's team.  We will have a mixed team of students and teachers.  We have some ideas for fundraising, but would welcome any suggestions.
