GOT HOPE? T-SHIRTS

This year our team is selling t-shirts that say GOT HOPE? on them.  We got the t-shirts made at a local printing store and got them at a very good price.  We sell them for $10 each and we have even expanded the sales to other Relays and have even mailed them out to buyers.  If anyone is interested in them or would like a picture just e-mail me and I will send it out to you as soon as possible.

MY SISTER PAULINE

Cool MY REASON FOR THE RELAY FOR LIFE IN REEDLEY,CA IS TO SUPPORT MY SISTER PAULINE IN HER FIGHT FOR CANCER,SHE IS ONE OF THE LUCKY ONE'S BECAUSE SHE IS A SURVIOR,AND WE THANK THE LORD FOR THAT.

ALSO WE LOST OUR SISTER MARY LOU TO CANCER IN 2005, SO OUR FAMILY HAVE BEEN IN THIS RELAY FOR LIFE FOR SEVERAL YEARS,AS FOR ME I JUST JOINED THEM IN 2006 AND IT WAS THE BEST TIME BEING ABLE TO PERTICIPATE IN THIS RELAY.

NOW I PRAY THAT I CAN DONATE TO MY SISTER PAULINE ON LINE,BUT I'VE TRIED TO FIND HER PAGE ON LINE AND I'VE HAD NO LUCK.

SO IF ANYBODY OUT THERE CAN HELP ME FIND MY SISTERS PAGE FOR PLEDGE PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

SHE IS WITH THE PEP SQUAD IN REEDLEY,CALIF. HER NAME IS PAULINE RODRIGUEZ.

I PRAY THAT SOMEONE OUT THERE CAN GET ME HER PAGE. AND MAY THE LORD BE WITH ALL OF YOU AT ALL TIMES.

69 days until the relay

Dear FWHS Freshman,

We already have several students commited to the team. We still have a long way to go as far as building a team. For anyone who has signed up for the team already, we are going to have a team meeting at Rodney's house on 3/22/08 @ 12pm. If you are able to attend, PLEASE let us know. Also if you are attending please bring your registration if you have it filled out, any money that you have collected for donations, and ideas for on-site fundraising. We will hand out the team newsletter, talk about luminaria sales, and anything else that needs to be talked about.

Sincerely,

Rodney and Maria

Mission Matters, March 2008 - Colon Cancer Awareness Month

Welcome to Mission Matters for March, 2008. March is National Colon Cancer Awareness Month.

As part of our monthly Mission Matters series, we have this blog and our Mission Matters conference call, which is Tuesday, March 11 at Noon ET and 8:30 PM ET. To join the conference call, please dial 1-800-910-2399/passcode: 487160.

Colorectal cancer has been known as the third leading cause of cancer death among men and women in the United States - and yet it is highly preventable. This month is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, so learn the facts and get tested. It could save your life.

An estimated 55,170 people died from colorectal cancer, commonly called colon cancer, in 2006. That's a number the American Cancer Society is working to reduce. The Society recommends adults aged 50 and older get tested for the disease. People with colon cancer in their families may need to start getting tested when they are younger. Both men and women are at risk, and 90 percent of cases are diagnosed in people older than 50. Many people may be afraid of getting tested - yet the test can save your life.

Bon Jovi Rocks with Relay For Life!

If I didn't already love Bon Jovi, last week, the band gave me another great reason to love them! I attended a concert in Pittsburgh (they will be back this weekend for another show!) and had a great time. The last song of the night was called "I Love This Town" during the song, the screens behind them were showing photos from across America, big cities, small towns, baseball games etc....right before they showed alot of Pittsburgh photos a picture of folks walking with a Relay For Life banner went across the screen! How cool is that? Imagine, 15,000 people in Pittsburgh saw our logo that night and when they play that song each night, how many hundreds of thousands of people will see Relay For Life across the country! Great advertisment! If you want to know where they will be so you can catch it, here are some upcoming concert dates.

Alternatives for balloon release?

Hi all,  We've been trying to find alternatives to a balloon release for our closing Fight Back ceremony.  The emotional impact is wonderful but many of our relayers are quite concerned about the physical impact the balloons have on our environment. We thought of butterflies but they are expensive and need to have slightly warmer weather than we expect at closing ceremony.  We also looked at cellulose balloons but they are VERY expensive. Doves are also expensive and I think prefer to be released in the evening.  Any other thoughts??  Thanks in advance. Mary, Relay For Life of Willow Glen, San Jose, CA

My Primary Reason for Participating in Relay for Life

Hello,

The primary reason I have chosen to participate in Relay for Life is my sister, Michelle.  She is currently undergoing chemo for breast cancer and I am so amazed at the manner in which she handles each day.  She is an inspiration to so many people and has touched so many lives.  I am so blessed to have her as my sister.

Outdoor Auction Baskets Shelter

I am looking for some ways to guarantee that we don't ruin Auction Baskets at our RFL event.  We have lots of wind and always the possibility of showers.  Any ideas to keep it so the people can view them.
