G.R.E.G.'s Team

Here we are another year.  Last year when we walked the track in  Hallowell, Maine I didn't do well.

I had so much pain in my knee. Foot in mouth But you know what...i looked around at the cancer survivors and those that were still fighting the battle and just kept walking...especially for those who couldn't.Smile

I had my knee surgery and have been working out A LOT.  This year my goal is to walk around the track more then 100 x's before the night is over.

cell phone recycling

Iam trying to get together a fundraiser for my Stroudsburg, PA relay and have heard about the cell phone recyling.  I have access the cellularrecycler.com website and it seems really easy to do.  Has anyone done this type of fundraiser with this company and is it really as easy as it seems???  My teams aren't great at fundraising so I thought this may spark some interest.

Dad's fight for cancer

My dad was diagnosed with a brain tumor at age 47.  I was 8 at the time.  I was very worried but thought that he'd be cured in no time.  I was very wrong.  He passed away only 6 months after.  I'm 11 now and pray that there will be a cure.  Although I did lose my dad, I still have hope that there will be a cure for cancer.  I've been on a Relay team ever since his passing and last year I helped out by walking dogs and selling various things.  With help from those around us, there WILL be a cure.  Now let's fight back to find it!

An Unique Kick Off / Launch Party Idea

My friend and RFL of SL Survivor Chair, Poppy Zabelin who lives in Denmark but is from the UK, grabbed me for a few minutes this morning to let me know she couldn't make the planning committee meeting. We were talking about the "Thumbing  Your Nose at Cancer" fundraiser and that our committee was to be shot this morning.  We were laughing and talking about what fun it would be and what a good attention-getter it was when Poppy mentioned that I should read her blog entry for today.  OH MY GOODNESS!  When I read her entry I burst out squeeling!  What a Kick Off / Launch Party idea!  Talk about increasing attendance. CRUK ( Cancer Research United Kingdom) is on to a serious attention-getter here I think, see if you agree with me, http://poppyzabelin.blogspot.com/ .

*smiling* Though our ACS Community Rep would go goofy if he  even thought we might be considering such a thing (and we aren't Randy!  PG all the way) but it is fun to read and see how our brothers and sisters in the fight find unique and original ways to bring forth cancer awareness.

We'll see if this can replace our Bulletin Board from last year.

Dove Release for opening ceremony

We are looking for information or a company for a dove release for our opening ceremony.  Would anyone have any contacts/places to look or how to go about this.  Our Relay is in June in Maryland.  I have not had any luck yet with local companies.

Thanks:)
