SharingHope.tv Officially Launches

Several weeks ago, you may have noticed a video on our home page that explained a new American Cancer Society website, SharingHope.tv. This week, the American Cancer Society is officially launching this new Web community that will help connect cancer survivors, their friends and family members through the sharing of user-generated videos, photos, music and artwork. SharingHope.tv allows users to create an account and upload video, audio, photos and artwork in order to tell their stories of cancer in ways that work best for them. Visitors to the site can view the content, share what they like with others, or find hope and inspiration for their own fight against cancer.

Cancer survivors and their loved ones are already avid users of online community Web sites, and with SharingHope.tv, the American Cancer Society hopes to engage new and existing users of online media. “Many people share their stories of cancer on Web sites like You Tube, Flickr, and personal blogs. Now they have a chance to come together in a single online community, with an organization and an audience that really cares about cancer,” said David Neff, American Cancer Society High Plains Division director of web and interactive strategy.

New Committee Member - Relay Online Promotional Chair!

I'm new to being on a committee for the Relay For Life and I'm the Relay Online Promotional Chair and I need to come up with a skit or something for the Kick-off and it's next Thursday (3/6) and I've never done something like this! What are some ways you guys have introduced everyone at the kick-off to the Relay Online or told them about it & things like that? I'm a little nervous & afraid I'll mess up! Feel free to email me at ksaikin@comcast.net & put Relay in the subject line please!

I was also wondering for those who have been the Relay Online Tech Chair, what they've done to their event sites such as what info to put up there besides the needed info.

Local Relay sites - Luminaria ordering page copy is off

not a biggie but in the Luminari section, the second page where you order one, the third paragraph starts out saying "please click on the links above..."  when it should say something like "Please fill in the information below..."

Problem Editing Pages in Event Manager & Relay Banner???

My mom is the Relay Online Tech Chair & I'm the Relay Online Promotional Chair and we intertwine our positions & I help her out w/ working on the site when she's busy with things going on. When I create a custom page the Relay For Life banner is NOT in the way of the editing toolbar but when I go to EDIT a page that has already been created such as the event main page for example. When I click edit, the editing window shows up but the "Relay For Life" Banner gets in the way and hides the Editing toolbar. I'm using Mozilla FireFox and what I have to do is quickly scroll down & then scroll back up real quickly before the banner hides the toolbar again and click on the button I want to click on. Also when I want to cut  something or copy something and click on the "cut or copy" buttons on the editing toolbar, I get this message from firefox: "Copy/Cut/Paste is not available in Mozilla and FireFox. Do you want more information about this issue?" Do you think we need to contact our Staff Partner about this problem. If anyone else has had this kind of problem for either issue, the banner getting in the way of the editing toolbar or the copy/cut/paste feature not working in Mozilla FireFox, please let me know what you guys had to do to solve the problem

Starting off

Well, I am new to this whole thing, but I am excited! Laughing I cannot wait until this all works out and I start working with Relay for Life. It's a really exciting thing and I can't wait to be apart of it. I don't want to sound like some commercial, but I really am excited to do this.

For whoever of my team members are reading this, remember to come up with some ideas for fund raising. I have a list, but I also have some money cans where we can put in some stores (Alfonso's, maybe Dollars & Cents, Eckard (Rite Aid, whatever!)) and see if people will make little donations.

Once we get more organized, I'll start posting more blogs and I'll make charts and things like that. It'll be a way to keep track of what's going on.

Thanks in advance! Can't wait.
