WHOA! FIRST WE CRAWL -

We tried something a bit different this year in an attempt to take the edge off those Relayers ready to go and yet have time to train participants. We decided to have a Kick Off (it was last Sunday) and then a Launch Party 30 days later. The Kick Off Party was to say "HEY! WE ARE BACK IN TOWN AND LOOKING FOR YOU". Then for the next 30 days the Team Chairs intend to heavily recruit and train the team captains and the Team Captains will use the time to recruit members and supporters in-addition to planning their fundraising activities. No fundraising at this time, just recruiting and planning (Like I don't know they are fundraising and squirreling it away for when we start ! Gotta love it!). 30 days later we have the Launch Party and this activity is actually a party to say "READY OR NOT HERE WE COME! FUNDRAISNG BEGINS". So first we crawl and then we RELAY!

Hi from Indiana, new to the forum

Hi everyone :) I'm Tricia from Madison, Indiana.

First year Captain with A Pause In Time Photography's Shooting For A Cure team! (I'm also the owner of A Pause In Time Photography :) and we're members of www.thinkpinkphotography.org !).

I've already learned a lot on here and look forward to learning even more! Last night was the first meeting (I had not been able to find information before that or would have been at them all). The only theme that our area is having this year is using the Red, Blue, and Purple....so we just went with our own team theme of Shooting For A Cure and we also will have at least 5 photogs on the team so we're going to be shooting the event as well!!

Just wanted to say hi basically....I ramble LOL sorry! I am so honored to be a part of this!

Relay for Life of SecondLife - Teams!

Fresh out of our kick off on Sunday, we are already at 70 teams, already 30 more teams than last year!  This is a testament to awesome momentum built from years past and a fantastic community of volunteers and Relayers ready to make a difference in the world, virtual or not!  Want to check it out?  Join Secondlife and then give a visit to ACS Island.  Ask me how.

 $150,000 here we come!

Why We Relay

I've been doing Relay for 4 years. My oldest daughter, Kate, was a freshman in high school and wanted to put together a team, so put together a team we did! Our team began as just our Girl Scout troop, but every year we expand! The last few years Kate's Christian Youth Group has joined us. This year it looks like the high school drama team will be with us. Truthfully, the more the merrier!

Why Relay?
It's one of the only times you can spend an entire day being with friends and family having fun, playing games, listening to music, staying up late (not sleeping at all?) because that's what's expected of you!

Doing Relay took a personal turn after our first year there. That's when my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer. Suddenly the purpose was real, the cause better understood, the plea to raise money more heartfelt. The luminary bags now have a personal connection: my dad's picture is on a few of them. He lost his battle with the disease, but our belief in the cause is stronger than ever.

Grant Money for cancer patients without insurance

Hey all! I joined this to ask any of you if you are aware of any groups/organizations that donate money or give grants to those without insurance?

My boyfriend is 20 he has no insurance and was diagnosed with prostate cancer, any information at all would be extremely helpful thank you so much!
