Being a ACS volunteer with the ACLS- study 3

Last year, I had the opportunity to be a volunteer for the ACLS study 3 at our annual Relay for Life. We had 129 study volunteers and everyone was very nice and cooperative. I was in charge of measuring people's waist. I was so nervous especially doing the men. I was worried about getting the wrong measurement. We stayed open later than planned as the study volunteers get coming in the tent. I even went back and participated as a study participant. Just when we finished with the study, it started pouring down raining and the tent was used for shelter by relay teams and onlookers. It didn't dampen our spirits but we got soaked. At three am it continously poured down raining so everyone hid under their tents. My team finally reached the bronze level in fundraising so we will have a sign for our tent this year.

Take this Seriously

I have walked in Grays Harbor’s Relay for Life since 1998.  This year I have volunteered to be co-captain of the Kilowatt Kids team.  I have always donated my time and participated in fundraising. I have always given my best.  I feel my best needs to be stepped up a notch.  I need to do more.

Why? I ask myself that question every time I have to give a little more time than I used to. Why? I ask myself that question every time someone criticizes someone else. Why? I ask myself that question every time I feel like giving up? Why? I ask myself that question every time someone feels our efforts are good enough already. Why? I ask myself that question every time someone resists change. Why? I ask myself that question every time someone I know is diagnosed with cancer.

Can I do this Fundraiser?

I am an independent consultant for a company that does "stuff-and-fluff" workshops (stuff your own stuffed animal).  I was planning on doing a "mom and me" workshop around Mother's Day, and promote the fact that $5 from every bear stuffed would go to our local Relay for Life event.

Is this allowed and would I need special permission to put the relay for life or ACS logo on my posters?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Melissa
