Almost 3 Months

Has it really been almost 3 months since I last wrote something?  The answer is YES.  I have started to write on a couple of occasions only to find myself too tired to coherently write what was on my mind.

Where have I been?  Working!  Since October I have been working two jobs, one part-time and the other full-time.  My days typically begin about 8:30 am and end sometime between 1:00 to 4:00 am.  However, I have still been involved in my local relay.

In December our Relay participated in the community Christmas Parade.  The parade theme was "A Storybook Christmas" and we chose Frank Capra's "It's a Wonderful Life" as our theme.  I was nominated to play the role of George Bailey.  That was a lot of fun.

I have been attending both committee and team captains' meetings.  Our Relay is quickly approaching and things are going to be happening fast.  I am really looking forward to it.

This will be our events 10th year anniversary and our event theme is "Decades."  I am the Mission Delivery Chairperson and my committee has a lot going on this year.  We are creating a "Relay Almanac" to encourge team interaction.  We are working closely with our Entertainment Committee and various teams to coordinate 24 hours of activities.  We are using Spirit Points and awarding the perpetual Spirit Award at the end of Relay.  We will also be in charge of the Fight Back! Ceremony.  There is a lot to do, but I am sure it will all come together.

Engaging survivors at Relay

This came out of the Team Development training session in Marlborough Mass a few weeks ago.

To encourage survivors to stay and get involved and connected during the Relay, each team came up with a little gift/trinket/food item and the survivors were given a sheet  of paper with the name of each team to visit and check off as they go. What a great way to have them go around and meet the teams and feel involved with the Relay beyond the survivor lap and reception.

We are going to do this this year in Acton!

adding a team member

I have a user that goes to add a family member on her team and it tells her that she is already registered.  Here is her email below:

Honorary Chairs

Does anyone know if there is a specific form or letter to use to request someone to be an Honorary Chair?  If not, any suggestions on how to go about asking?

 Thanks.

Menus Have Changed

If you're used to using the left-navigation menu to get around RelayForLife.org, you will notice that the menu has changed.  All of the site navigation links have been moved to the top-navigation menu.  The only links in the left-navigation are the links that are related to your personal RelayForLife.org account (My Blog, My Account, My Buddylist, etc.).  There are a couple of additional links that are still in the left-nav for convenience (Find Relay Events, Invite a Friend, Post Blog Entry).

For everything else, check the top-navigation menu and the right-navigation bar (buttons).  Here is a "map" of what the top-navigation menu looks like:

Honoring Top Teams

PLEASE HELP

I am a committee member but also on the team that has been the top raising teams for several years.  The money about difference between my teams and the other tops teams is usually 7,000 dollars.  I would like to honor my team in another way and take us out of the top teams leaders, because there is such a difference.  Any ideas, my team members make it hard because they still want to recognized.  It was mentioned to make two divisions, over and under $10,000 but we are the only team that does over that amount.

Matching Gifts

Hello,

How do I get my company listed as a company that will match donations?  I talked to my Director and they are willing to matching donataions.

ThanksSmile

Off to a good start!!!!!!!

Hello!! This is my first blog about the Lovington Relay for Life.  We are in our fifth year and things could not be better for our town of about 10,000.  Over the years our goals have set our goals higher and our faithful town has exceeded our expectations.

I Relay for me (in remisssion forr 5 years YEAH ME), I relay for my grand da (6 years past), I relay for my mom's best friend Debbie (6 years past), and I relay for you and yours.

This years Relay is set for May 2nd and 3rd. Our kick off party was on 2-4-08 and it was a hugh success.  Our comittee is PUMPED and set to go.  This year I have signed on to do the entertainment and activities.  (A VERY BIG  JOB, I'M KINDA SCARED), but my faithful comittee is sure to not let me down if I need help.

Hope your events are going well and you will enjoy our stories.

Laughing    My son, we will call Turbo, says he relays for his mom.    Laughing
