13th year for BLount County Alabama

Hey y'all I just wanted to talk about our Relay In Blount County, I got wrangled I guess is how you state it to help with Relay, in 2005 which was the 10th year Celebration I believe. Which makes this coming year our 13th, Most would say 13 is UNLUCKY but not me I was always number 13 on the Team. Any who, we are starting off on the Right Foot, Our Date is set for April 28th, 2008 and Location has not changed, Our Kick-off is soon approaching and  we have set our Theme "Reason's To Celebrate". I came in as a Team member and then quickly got on the Committee and Chair of Activities in 2005, Committee, Team Caption with my own team, Activities Chair 2006 Committee TC of WWJFAC Lum Chair online Chair 2007 & then Committee TC Online Chair 2008 ( photographer & website builder). Looks like I have been busy!

Sports Theme????

Has anyone ever done a sports theme before??? I was thinking about having a sports theme or a team theme or something like that. We had already bought a LSU tent a couple months back and decided way before they won the national championship that we would do something with LSU. I was thinking since they are the fighting tigers, that we could used something like "we are fighting to find a cure for cancer" or can ya'll give me any other ideas that ya'll have used before.

this is my first time as chair of activities and entertainment and this is only our second year having this event at the playground it is now. So we need to have something bigger and better.

 thanks,

Turf Fields

Have any of held your Relay for Life event at a football stadium with turf.  Our host location just put down new turf and wanted to see what guidelines others used in regards being able to use tents, stage, etc on the new turf.

Making my list...

Yes!! I have 4 friends who have "committed" for me!  I'm getting very excitedLaughing A friend of mine, Jen, said she has participated in the Laporte relay and said it was great fun, each team had booths set up for food, etc to look at and buy from to raise even more money and they had entertainment running throughout the event to give those not walking something to do.  I don't think I will be at a loss for something to do if I'm surrounded by my girlfriends!

Sara has even asked if she can come with me for a little while to walk around the track.  I'm more than happy to get her involved in something for such a good cause.  Unfortunately, she never met my granny, but she will know plenty about her by the time this event is over with.

Relay 2008

This years relay is now being planned and everyone is getting excited about new ideas to keep everyone interested.  It was requested by our daughter to change it up a bit, so we're going to give it a try.  With the support of our family and friends I'm sure will have another successful year.

I will be taking on the position as Team Leader for the first time, because ours is busy planning her wedding. Laughing  I've always been like a co-leader, and our motivator, so hopefully I'll be able to take on the full responsibility with ease.

Our kickoff meeting is soon,  my husband and I will attend. Hopefully, my work won't schedule me to come in, because this is a very important day.  Seeing familiar faces in the room from the event we attend will be great.

I'm thankful for this website as I read the valued information about being a leader, and how to keep people interested in what they are doing.  New ideas that work for other teams are always fun to read.
