I'M BACK!!

Greetings my fellow relay junkies!!!!    I've missed chatting with my buddies on here and see there are a lot of blogs I'm going to have to catch up on......Welcome to all those who are new on here. This is such a great sight for sharing your ideas, why you relay, and if you are like me, blogging and venting about your experiences as a cancer survivor....it's cheaper than a therapist! hahaha

Tomorrow I will find out what the next course of treatment will be.   My treatments were messed up in the fall, due to low platelets and was only able to do one dose of the drug I needed to keep the node under my arm asleep.   I did a scan a couple weeks ago, and the node lit up again.....but just a tiny bit....a "dull uptake" as he put it.   We know which drug I need, it's just a matter of how much we are going to do.   It's difficult with my system still so beat up from the (failed :( ) stem cell transplant, but we'll make it work somehow!

Relay committee meetings are in full swing and I am having a blast helping plan our relay.  This year is our 10th, in our little town, and I hope it's our best ever.   I've been asked to speak this year at our "mini-university" in a couple weeks and am a little nervous about having to speak in public again, but for relay, I'll do it!

Relay for Life

Hello All~

I am getting together a team to walk for this wonderful cause. I am personally walking for Vickie Ash. My best friend, my Aunt, my hope.

Vickie died of breast cancer in 10/01, just days after 9/11. She was  in her early 40's and the greastest person you would of have the priveledge of meeting.

She was a kid at heart, someone who always rooted for the underdog, and the first person to start a water fight. She has cried with many of us and the first one to say "I am proud of you" My cousins and I cant imagine our young adult life without her.

Everyone knows someone who has died of some form of cancer. Please join me in walking for this worthy cause.

Our team name is Walk 4 HOPE. Because this is what Miss Vic always gave us--HOPE

The Reason Why

The Reason Why

As we stand and watch this flame burn bright
This Flame of hope through out the night
We light these candles for all to see
So our hopes and dreams will be set free.
We remember our loved ones as we pray
They tried so hard but could not stay
They will always be with us in our heart
No matter how long you ave been apart.
We honor the ones who have survived this war
They march through life with an open door
And through their eyes the world will see
What self determination can be.
This flame of hope will light their way
And help them hind the light of day
Through out the night we walk to keep
That they are the reason we do not sleep.

"Hope" in the bleachers

I have accepted the Luminary Chairperson position for my community's "Relay" and the bleacher idea has never been used in the past. For anyone that has done it, could you tell me how many luminaries it takes to complete the word "HOPE" in the bleachers.

Hello? Is this thing on?

Guess who's back?

It's been since early December that I've blogged on RelayForLife.org and it's probably been just as long since I've been on the site!!!  I know, such a bad Relay person.

There are a lot of reasons (or excuses, I guess) as to why I've been MIA.

First... it was Christmas time, so with shopping and all that stuff to do, that didn't help much.  And at work, I was not only doing my job, but was also doing two other people's jobs -- all at the same time!!!

And then we get to my local Relay.  We hit some snags, didn't have that great of a Kick-Off.  I was really sad after the lackluster Kick-Off turnout.  Aside from our committee, we had four people show up.  And their two teams were already registered!!!!!!

My staff person is changing (again).  The one we've had was promoted (yay for her!!!!) but that means she isn't doing Relays (boo!).  Right now, we're in limbo since they haven't hired anyone for the position.  So it's sort of hit or miss right now.  That's OK, except for the fact that I really really really really like working with Laura.
